The Great Book Swap is a fundraising event for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. Kids donate unwanted books from home then buy another book for $2.
This really encourages us to sacrifice something in order to gain something else. It’s also a great opportunity to discuss some of the difficulties many indigenous children live with; growing up without books and not being able to read and write.
Of course is it’s always a good time to talk with your kids about the great joys of reading and of sharing favourite authors, genres and styles.
Left over books were donated to the fair (Sat 9th Nov 2013)
Thanks for organising this event Lee.
